ASTM A335 P9 Studded Tube, with 11Cr Studs Material , Fired Heater , Furnace Application
What is a Studded Tube?
Studded Fin Tubes are a type of metal tubes. These tubes have studs welded onto the metal tubes. These studs are arranged in a specific formation throughout the total tube. They are usually used in boilers and refineries. They increase the surface area for higher heat transfer, so they are also used for reheating.
The steel studs are automatically resistance welded to the tubes, producing high quality forged welds. The welding process enables the combination of any grade for studs and tubes: carbon, low alloy, stainless steel and high nickel alloys. Alloy steel tubes are stress-relieved after studding, according to the relevant specifications for the class and grade of steel used.
Studded Fin Tubes are used as an alternative to fin tubes in heat exchangers mainly in the petrochemical industry in which the surface is exposed to particular corrosion and aggression. Studded Fin Tube is a standard frequency electric-resistance-welded studded type surface. Studded fin tubes normally weld round carbon steed studs on carbon, alloy or stainless steel tubes.
